El gobierno de EE.UU. finalmente publicó el informe de empleos de mayo y, como suele suceder, los ojos de Wall Street estuvieron expectantes a los resultados.
Según el relevamiento, el mercado laboral se mantuvo estable en medio del incremento de las tasas de interés impuestas por la Reserva Federal (FED) en su intento de reducir la inflación.

En abril, se observó que las ofertas de empleo cayeron a un nivel tan bajo que supera el de 2022.

- Creación de empleo: En mayo, la economía estadounidense añadió 272.000 puestos de trabajo no agrícolas12. Esto superó las expectativas y fue considerablemente mayor que el total de abril, que se revisó a la baja a 165.000.
- Tasa de desempleo: La tasa de desempleo aumentó de 3,9% a 4%, y rompió una racha de 27 meses de desempleo por debajo de 4%. Es la primera vez en más de dos años que la tasa de desempleo no está por debajo de 4%.
- Industrias destacadas: Las industrias proveedoras de servicios lideraron las ganancias de empleo en mayo. La atención médica y la asistencia social también contribuyeron con 83.500 puestos de trabajo agregados.
