In the face of an inflation that shows no intention of going down, a large part of the Argentine employees who charge their bonus for these days are betting on the dollar to ensure that their savings are not devalued. Is that the greenback is becoming a more than attractive option: two weeks ago that is closing down and is currently below $ 43. Given the peak of $ 47 in April, many believe that the US currency could re-shoot.The fintechs, which run to traditional entities offering the same services but with lower cost and greater agility, have already reached the forex trading.Although banks provide better quotes or extended hours of operation when operating by homebanking, an Argentine startup broke with lower prices, 100% process and a lower spread (difference between wholesale and retail prices) that in the square reaches up to $ 2 ,fifty. In this scenario, a new fintech wants to eat the business of buying and selling dollars, by launching the first virtual exchange house approved by the Central Bank and promises the best market price and promotional rebates. In addition, it works on an "anti-devaluation insurance" for those who wish to freeze the price of the green ticket until a certain date. That is to say, to massify an operation that in financial circuit is known as "future dollar".It is a succulent market: according to the latest BCRA figures, the purchases of individuals totaled US $ 1,425 million in a month, for average amounts of 1,467 per capita. What does it consist ofGiven the exchange rate instability and the appetite of the Argentines for the North American currency, a group of ITBA entrepreneurs launched TiendaDólar, a virtual exchange house that already has nearly 11,000 monthly transactions."The system is very simple, we combine supply and demand like any marketplace", points out iProUP Martín Nagelberg, CTO of the company, who assures that they have the best market price. In fact, it offers a difference in favor of the user of up to 1 peso -both in the buying and selling variant- with respect to banks. To use the system, the user must have a savings account in pesos and another in dollars of which he or she is the owner or co-owner. In this way, you create a free account on the web and send your pesos to change for dollars, but must comply with other requirements of the Financial Information Unit (UIF) according to the amounts to operate:- Up to $ 200,000 per year: name, surname, jurisdiction, CUIT and nationality- Between $ 200,000 and $ 800,000: you must add a photo of the ID- From $ 800,000: documentation must be added to prove the lawfulness of the funds (fixed term, salary receipt, etc.)"The user sends the funds from his home banking, which will appear in his store balance, which can be converted into dollars and withdrawn at the moment or later, by means of a transfer to his CBU", explains the entrepreneur, who adds that the accreditation "is immediate".According to the director reveals iProUP, 80% of operations are purchases "ant"; that is, "ordinary people who buy between 500 and 1,000 dollars", which is precisely the main client of the banks.According to a survey carried out by iProUP between several entities, the average operation is around 500 dollars in areas with lower purchasing power. In contrast, in higher-income neighborhoods, the average purchase ranges from 1,000 to 1,500 dollars. And 90% of the operations are solved from the cell phone and the PC.The other 20% of the users of TiendaDólar is made up of SMEs or importers, who acquire from 30,000 to 50,000 dollars per operation. On the side of those who sell currencies on the platform, most of the funds come from companies linked to the field or software firms that sell their services abroad and ensure the liquidity of the system.Advance against banksNagelberg has no doubts about his main rivals. "Our competitors are banks, both traditional and digital, and also the stock exchange companies," he said in a dialogue with iProUP.About the latter, which have better quotes than the bank, maintains that TiendaDólar is different because "they have higher legal requirements to register users, they ask for more forms, an app, wait to validate the DNI and other issues, while our Onboarding is immediate. "As iProUP informed, traditional banking offers better quotes for home banking or the possibility of operating beyond banking hours. On the one hand, the Credicoop, the Supervielle, French and Piano, and the publics Nation, City, which sell green tickets up to 30 cents cheaper than in branches. On the other, entities such as HSBC or Santander offer an extended schedule, which can be extended until 18 or 20 hours. From TiendaDólar note that the platform always has a better price than the banking and that works until the holidays. But they also provide a differential that other great Fintech players fly."Any problem that occurs, we are here to solve it, we attend to the moment, we do not put music on the phone like a bank", says Nagelberg, who also advances that they prepare new services to increase their user base. One of them is the purchase and sale of euros, a feature lacking in traditional home banking. The other is the possibility of taking out an "anti-devaluation insurance", a kind of future dollar, but intended for the end user without financial knowledge."You can take out insurance in case the dollar rises, for example, to 45 pesos on a certain date, if you change them to pesos in advance and the currency exceeds 45 pesos on that date, we pay the difference," explains the entrepreneur, who He adds that the platform will offer a table of premiums associated with each value. The monetization of TiendaDólar is only based on the spread, which is also lower than that offered by banks: it is currently at $ 0.70; against the 2 average pesos of the market. Achieving such efficiency is based on the fact that they have a small structure and that the founders have technical profiles, since software is the main asset of the company. In the future, the company expects to add more users and launched a campaign for half the annual supplementary salary that employees are charging in relation to dependence: until July 5, 2019, entering the code "aguinaldo" will be able to access a best quote. They are also negotiating with some companies to extend this benefit to their employees and continue to increase their customer base. And they even hope to launch a referral campaign, by which a user can recommend the site to a friend or relative and both access a preferential quote. The team behind the project also created the CryptoCup, a kind of virtual Prode that is based on virtual currencies: its operation is based on a digital contract and the winner's prize is offered in the Ethereum currency. But they rule out the possibility of becoming an Exchange (house of virtual change) of these assets. "For now, it is not in view, the problem is the volatility of the bitcoin or the ethereum, with which it is very difficult to offer the service," says Nagelberg. What they also do not have planned is to become a digital bank because of the "bureaucracy" behind it. In this way, they seek to continue with their flexibility and efficiency, taking advantage of the Argentine fever for the dollar and breaking into new services within a local fintech industry with an increasing level of innovation.
